Claudia Lindner is a Sir Henry Dale Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Division of Informatics, Imaging & Data Sciences. She leads the Pankhurst Health Technology Translation Toolkit project and serves as Translation Lead at the Christabel Pankhurst Institute. Her research focuses on automated medical image analysis for musculoskeletal disorders, leveraging AI and machine learning to improve clinical decision-making.
With a PhD in Medical Computer Science (2014), Lindner holds advanced degrees in Computer Science (Heinrich Heine University, Germany) and Business Administration (Australia). Over 25 years of experience in computational methods across academia and industry, she has pioneered tools like BoneFinder for automated bone shape analysis, impacting hip replacement surgery and osteoarthritis management.
Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in healthcare and technology innovation. Lindner is a STEM Ambassador and actively participates in public engagement, promoting science education. Key awards include the ISBI 2015 Grand Challenge Prize, Wellcome-Beit Prize, and Fellowship in the Young Academy of Europe.
Recent research emphasizes AI-driven knee alignment assessment, pediatric cerebral palsy radiograph analysis, and hip osteoarthritis risk prediction through meta-analyses. She collaborates globally, contributing to initiatives like the World COACH consortium.
