Claudia Lemper-Manahl is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Plant Pathology & Microbiology Department at Iowa State University (ISU) and the Program Coordinator for the AgDiscovery Program. She joined ISU in 2013 after 18 years teaching genetics labs at ISU's Biology Program. Her teaching focuses on microbiology, molecular techniques, and scientific communication, emphasizing hands-on learning and inclusive environments to prepare students for careers in academia, industry, or professional schools. She received the 2020 COVID-19 Exceptional Effort Award for adapting lab courses to online formats during the pandemic and the 2021 CELT Teaching Spotlight recognition.

Research interests center on enhancing undergraduate education through experiential learning and promoting diversity in STEM. She coordinates the AgDiscovery Program, a high-school outreach initiative exposing students to agricultural careers via campus residencies, lab work, field trips, and workshops in veterinary medicine, agronomy, and plant sciences.
Her contributions include initiatives like the 'Tiny World-Big Problems' innovation challenge and the 'Small World Initiative' for antibiotic discovery. She also leads the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) lab tours and mentors students through the Undergraduate Microbiology Program.
