معرفی
Claudia Langenberg is a Professor of Computational Medicine at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité since 2020. A physician and epidemiologist born in Munich in 1972, her research focuses on the genetic basis of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, and insulin resistance, leveraging large-scale international population studies and metabolomics data.
Education:
- Medicine degree from Münster
- MSc and PhD in Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and University College London
Research Focus: Langenberg's work integrates 'omic' data, particularly metabolites in human blood, to characterize genetic influences on metabolism and disease. She co-founded international consortia like MAGIC and COMETS, advancing understanding of metabolic risk factors through molecular epidemiology.
Scientific Awards:
- Helmholtz International Fellow Award (2018)
- European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) member (2024)
Contributions: She served as program director of Molecular Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge (2017) and edited the 2016 UK Chief Medical Officer report Generation Genome. Her team has identified genetic links to thousands of blood molecules, informing disease mechanisms.
