Claudia Krebs

Dr. Claudia Krebs is a Professor of Teaching in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), specializing in anatomy education and biomedical visualization. She leads the Department of Cellular & Physiological Sciences and founded the HIVE (Hackspace for Innovation and Visualization in Education), pioneering extended reality (xR) technologies in medical education.

Research interests: Claudia Krebs focuses on anatomy education, biomedical visualization, ethical science communication, and the historical legacy of anatomical atlases, including the Nazi origins of the Spanner atlas. Her work bridges technology, education, and ethics, creating accessible and engaging learning experiences.

Dr. Krebs developed widely used educational resources such as neuroanatomy.ca, clinicalanatomy.ca, and the Body Banter podcast. In 2021, she launched UBC's non-credit Certificate in Biomedical Visualization and Communication in collaboration with Extended Learning, fostering a community of alumni passionate about technology-driven, ethically grounded science communication.

Labs and teams: She leads the HIVE (Hackspace for Innovation and Visualization in Education), a multidisciplinary team advancing anatomical education through cutting-edge visualization tools.
