Professor Andreas Winkelmann serves as Head of the Institute of Anatomy at Brandenburg Medical School (Theodor Fontane) since July 4, 2016. He holds a Professorship for Anatomy and is recognized as a Specialist in Anatomy, with his office located at the Neuruppin Campus in Germany.
His research focuses on the history and ethics of anatomy, with particular emphasis on human remains from the colonial period and provenance research. Professor Winkelmann is recognized as an expert in the art of dissection for anatomical teaching, curriculum planning, and anatomical terminology.
His teaching encompasses complete anatomy including histology and embryology, with specialized focus on macroscopic anatomy, neuroanatomy, and clinical anatomy. His recent publications address significant ethical questions in anatomical science, including studies of Wilhelm Waldeyer's anatomical collections and historical research using Nazi victims.
