Claudia Goldin is the Henry Lee Professor of Economics and holds the Lee and Ezpeleta Professorship of Arts & Sciences at Harvard University. She has directed the NBER’s Development of the American Economy program (1989–2017) and co-directs its Gender in the Economy group. A pioneer in economic history and labor economics, her research focuses on women’s labor market outcomes, gender gaps, income inequality, and technological impacts. Goldin’s work emphasizes historical analysis to explain modern issues, notably the role of the birth control pill in advancing women’s workforce participation and education. She authored influential books like *Career & Family* (2021) and *The Race between Education and Technology* (2008), the latter winning the 2008 R.R. Hawkins Award. Goldin has received the 2023 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, the IZA Prize in Labor Economics (2016), and the BBVA Frontiers in Knowledge Award (2019). She earned her B.A. from Cornell University and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
