Claudia Geue is a Senior Lecturer in Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment at the University of Glasgow, based in the School of Health & Wellbeing. She holds a PhD in Health Economics (2012) from the University of Glasgow and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Potsdam (2004). Her research focuses on analyzing real-world evidence to inform healthcare decision-making, particularly in areas like healthcare resource allocation, public health intervention evaluation, and socio-economic determinants of healthcare utilization.
Her academic roles include co-leading the MSc in Health Economics and HTA and leading the 'Real World Data in Healthcare Decision Making' module. She has supervised multiple PhD/MSc students, with notable supervisees including Suthasinee Kumluang, Ping Hsuan Hsieh, and Giorgio Ciminata. Her work has been funded by organizations such as the Chief Scientist Office, Dunhill Medical Trust, and the National Institute for Health Research.
Research interests span methodological and applied health economics, including cost-effectiveness analysis, natural experiment evaluations, and linked health/social care data analysis. Key contributions include studies on healthcare costs at the end of life, alcohol policy impacts, and stroke care economics.
Teaching and supervision highlight her commitment to training next-generation health economists, with recognitions like the University of Glasgow’s Recognising Excellence in Teaching Fellow (2018) and Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (2019).
