Claudia Eppert is a Professor in the Department of Secondary Education at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Education. She holds advanced degrees, including a PhD from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) and multiple master's and bachelor's degrees in English literature and education. Her research focuses on ethics of witnessing social/ecological suffering, mindful/contemplative education, and transformative pedagogy for justice and sustainability. She co-edited award-winning books like Between Hope and Despair and Cross-Cultural Studies in Curriculum, and serves on advisory boards such as the Curriculum Studies in Canada Advisory Board. She has held visiting professorships at York and McGill Universities.

She has presented globally, including keynotes on environmental witnessing and well-being in education. Awards include AESA Critics Choice and AERA Outstanding Book Recognition.
Teaching: Teaches courses on curriculum foundations, mindfulness pedagogies, and literary engagements for social change. Current courses include EDSE 427: Advanced Studies in Curriculum and Teaching in Secondary School English Language Arts.
Labs/Teams: Co-Editor of the journal Philosophical Inquiry in Education, co-vice president of the Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies.
