Claudia Denkinger

Prof. Dr. Claudia Denkinger serves as Professor and Deputy Site Spokesperson at Heidelberg University Hospital, Heidelberg University, with primary responsibilities in tuberculosis research and clinical diagnostics. Her work bridges academic medicine and public health initiatives across multi-center collaborations including Bonn-Cologne and Heidelberg.

Her research specializes in overcoming diagnostic challenges for extra-pulmonary tuberculosis through advanced point-of-care ultrasound (POC-US) techniques. Focusing on vulnerable populations like children and HIV-positive adults where conventional microbiological tests fail due to low sensitivity, she pioneers abdominal and thoracic ultrasound applications for disease confirmation and monitoring. This work addresses critical gaps in tuberculosis management through non-invasive imaging solutions.

In her leadership role as Deputy Site Spokesperson for Heidelberg within the Bonn-Cologne-Heidelberg research network, she drives collaborative efforts to standardize ultrasound diagnostics and improve tuberculosis outcomes across clinical settings.
