University of California , Santa Barbara (UCSB)معرفی
Claude Weisbuch is a Distinguished Professor of Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), affiliated with the College of Engineering. His research focuses on semiconductor optics, nitride materials, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs), with particular attention to quantum well physics, alloy disorder effects, and device efficiency optimization. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Université Paris VII and conducted graduate studies at the École Normale Supérieure.
Prof. Weisbuch’s work addresses fundamental challenges in optoelectronics, including carrier transport mechanisms in nitride-based LEDs, defect-induced efficiency droop, and nanoscale material inhomogeneities. His contributions span experimental and theoretical domains, employing techniques like low-energy electron microscopy, photoemission spectroscopy, and landscape theory to analyze semiconductor properties.
His awards include the American Physical Society Fellowship, the Welker Medal from the International Symposium on Compound Semiconductors, and the Léon Brillouin Grand Prix. His research bridges foundational physics and applied engineering, with applications in solid-state lighting and biochip technologies.
Key themes in his recent articles include the role of V-defects in LED performance, trap-assisted recombination in GaN diodes, and localization effects in III-nitride alloys. His work also explores microcavity LEDs and semipolar laser diodes, advancing prospects for high-efficiency lighting solutions.
