Claude Laurin is a Full Professor and academic leader at HEC Montréal, a prestigious graduate business school within Université de Montréal. Over 20 years, he has contributed significantly to advancing management accounting in Canada. He has held key administrative roles, including Director of the Department of Accounting, the MSc program, and Faculty Affairs. A CMA Fellow, Laurin’s expertise spans corporate governance, public sector management, and privatization outcomes.
His research focuses on management accounting systems, organizational performance, and the long-term impacts of public sector reforms. Notable contributions include co-authoring a textbook recognized with the François-Albert Angers Award (2004) and pioneering studies on activity-based costing challenges, agencification effects, and efficiency in state-owned enterprises. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with real-world applications, emphasizing practical solutions for cost management and strategic decision-making.
