معرفی
Claude Krummenacher, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at Rowan University with dual appointments in the College of Science & Mathematics and the School of Biomedical Sciences and Health Professions. His research focuses on herpesvirus entry mechanisms, host-pathogen interactions, and antiviral therapy development.
Education:
- B.S. and Ph.D. in Biology, University of Lausanne
- Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Pennsylvania and Wistar Institute
Research Interests: The lab investigates how herpes simplex virus (HSV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) interact with cellular receptors like nectin-1 to develop therapeutic inhibitors. Key areas include viral entry dynamics, immune modulation by viral proteins, saliva's role in HSV infection, and nanovaccine design for herpesviruses.
Publications: Recent work includes EBV vaccine development (Nature Communications 2024), nectin-1's role in NK cell interactions (PLOS One 2019), and saliva-enhanced HSV infection mechanisms (PLOS One 2019). Articles span virology, immunology, and structural biology.
Honors:
- Frances R Lax Award for Faculty Development (2015)
Students & Collaborations: Mentors undergraduate researchers in virology and biomedical projects. Collaborates with institutions on antiviral assays and HSV-EBV studies.
Labs & Teams: Leads a lab studying HSV-1 entry into oral tissues and EBV's role in tumor promotion, using molecular and cellular approaches.
