Professor Clarissa Vierke is affiliated with the University of Bayreuth in the Department of Literatures in African Languages. Her work focuses on manuscript cultures, digital preservation, and cultural heritage.

Research interests include manuscript studies, African languages, and digital preservation of endangered archives. She leads initiatives such as DiPiKA – Digital Preservation of Kerala Archives, Rescuing the Books of al-Jazzar, and DREAMSEA for safeguarding manuscripts from Timbuktu and Southeast Asia.
