Dr. Clare Wood is an Associate Professor and Civil Engineering Programmes Director at Swansea University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, leading industry-collaborative research in sustainable construction materials, low-carbon concrete, and fluid-structure interaction (FSI). She oversees accredited undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering programs, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, biosciences, and history. Her research focuses on computational modeling for eco-structures, ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), and alkali-activated cements.
Key grants include the EPSRC-funded Hafod Copperworks Engine Houses project (£39,000) and the Royal Academy of Engineering’s 'Ingenious' grant for STEM engagement. She teaches modules like EG-258 (Civil Engineering Design) and EG-M52 (Strategic Engineering Management), integrating VR technologies to enhance design education. Current PhD supervision includes studies on low-carbon concrete for rail construction and sustainable building practices in Saudi Arabia.
