Clare Margaret Andvik is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Section for Aquatic Biology and Toxicology, part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo. Her work focuses on environmental contaminants in marine wildlife, particularly killer whales.
- Research Focus: Legacy and emerging pollutants in marine mammals
- Key Projects: MULTIWHALE (multiple stressors on Norwegian killer whales)
Her studies examine contaminant dynamics in seal-eating vs. fish-eating killer whales and pollution thresholds for apex predators. She has published extensively on chlorinated paraffins, phthalates, and persistent organic pollutants in Arctic marine ecosystems.
Selected Publications (trends): Analysis of contaminant effects in Norwegian marine mammals, dietary niche impacts, and Arctic ecological indicators.
- Scientific Awards: University of Oslo Sustainability Prize for Best Master Thesis (2019)
