Dr. Clare Gallagher is a Senior Lecturer at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University, specializing in MFA Photography and BA (Hons) Photography with Video. Her academic practice interrogates domestic labor and women's invisible work in the home, with a focus on visual activism and critical photography.

Research Interests center on gendered domestic space, maternal representation, and artistic interventions in Northern Irish cultural discourse. She co-founded the Belfast Photo Festival board and serves as external examiner at the University of Sunderland and IADT Dún Laoghaire.
Key Awards include the Jelgavas Tipografija & Backlight Prize (2017), Deutsche Börse Photography Prize longlist (2021), and Paul Hamlyn Visual Artists Award nomination (2023). Her photobook The Second Shift (2019) was recognized in The Guardian's top photography books.
