Dr. Clare Dix is a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics within the School of Health at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), Queensland, Australia. An Accredited Practising Dietitian and member of Dietitians Australia, she holds a PhD in Nutrition from the University of Queensland along with an MDietS and BSc(Biomed). With over a decade of experience in research project management, Dr. Dix is actively contributing to the field through teaching, research, and community engagement.
Dr. Dix's research focuses on medical nutrition therapy, dietetic clinical education, interprofessional education, digital health, co-design methodology, childhood nutrition, and health promotion. Her work particularly emphasizes creating evidence-based digital resources for childhood nutrition through co-design processes with stakeholders. She is passionate about advancing nutrition science through practical applications that address real-world challenges in public health nutrition.
Her current research portfolio demonstrates a strong emphasis on childhood nutrition, with multiple projects focused on developing digital resources for families with children under five. The Grow&Go Toolbox, which she managed as project lead, represents a significant contribution to providing trustworthy nutrition information for Australian families. Her work increasingly incorporates cultural considerations, with recent projects focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and migrant families.
Dr. Dix has secured substantial research funding, including NHMRC MRFF grants totaling over $1.3 million for the Tinybites project (2023-2027) and $1.2 million from the Australian Department of Health for the Nutritious Tools Project (2021-2024). Her research collaborations span multiple institutions and involve interdisciplinary teams focused on childhood obesity prevention, digital health interventions, and nutrition resource development.
As an educator, Dr. Dix teaches across multiple domains including Medical Nutrition Therapy, Evidence Based Practice in Dietetics, Community and Public Health Nutrition, and Clinical Education Research. She supervises higher degree research students and is actively involved in developing innovative teaching approaches, particularly in interprofessional education.
