معرفی
Clare Casey is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Anthropology Department at Barnard College. Her research focuses on the intersection of state-funded nonprofit systems, healthcare access, and neoliberal policies. She conducts fieldwork with teens and young adults navigating social service systems in U.S. urban centers, analyzing how progressive ideologies of community collide with cost-cutting measures. A second grant-funded project examines transgender and nonbinary youth healthcare across diverse clinics, emphasizing racialized histories in healthcare access. She teaches foundational social theory courses, integrating themes like witchcraft and conspiracy theories into contemporary debates.
Her work bridges medical anthropology, critical healthcare studies, and transgender studies. Current projects include a book analyzing client-provider dynamics in nonprofit systems and a hospital-based study on transgender youth care. Office hours are Mondays 2–4 PM, with alternate arrangements available via email.
