Claire Workinger is the Teacher of Applied Music (Oboe) at Washington University in St. Louis and a performer with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, where she contributes to the concert band and Midwest Winds woodwind quintet. She holds a Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Her educational background includes roles as Adjunct Professor of Double Reeds at the University of Mary Washington and as a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas. Claire specializes in oboe instruction, reed making, and instrument repair, with experience teaching students from beginners to university level.
As a performer, she has played with ensembles such as the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Dallas Wind Symphony, and Baroque groups like the Denton Bach Society. Her recordings appear on GIA WindWorks and Mark Masters labels, reflecting her expertise in both modern and historically informed performance practices.
Claire’s technical skills extend to oboe adjustment and repair, developed during her tenure as an Oboe Finisher at Fox Products Corp. She maintains active involvement in music education and performance across multiple disciplines.
