Claire Smith is a part-time Guest Lecturer and Department Advisor in Occupational Therapy at Üsküdar University's Faculty of Health Sciences (Turkey), concurrently teaching at Teeside University (UK). She earned her professional qualification in ergotherapy from Sedgefield Community College (1991) and a master's degree from Durham University (1999).
Her clinical and research expertise spans adult mental health, refugee mental health services, psychological trauma interventions, and cultural competence in occupational therapy. She previously worked extensively with refugees at Alliance Psychological Services, and her doctoral research examined the meaning of activity for UK residence seekers.
