Dr. Claire Routley is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Kent's Centre for Philanthropy within the School of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of the West of England (2011) and has over 20 years' experience in charitable fundraising, including roles at Age UK and a local hospice. Her consultancy work focuses on legacy giving strategies, and she has contributed to the Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy at the University of Plymouth.
Her research interests center on charitable legacies, fundraising ethics, and donor motivations, with publications in journals like Journal of Philanthropy and Marketing. She teaches fundraising courses for the Institute of Fundraising and serves on Rogare’s international advisory panel. Awards include AFP’s 2017 Emerging Scholar and Chartered Marketer status with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Dr. Routley’s publications analyze behavioral economics in bequest giving, identity-driven legacy donations in cultural institutions, and ethical frameworks for modern fundraising practices.
