Claire Pescott

Claire Pescott is a Senior Lecturer in Early Years at the University of South Wales, affiliated with the Faculty of Life Sciences and Education. Her research focuses on children’s interactions with digital media, identity formation, and educational pedagogies. She has been actively publishing since 2017, with recent work emphasizing children’s perceptions of social media surveillance and digital self-presentation.

Her research interests include social media’s impact on child development, e-safety frameworks, and practical applications of pedagogical theories in early years education. Notable contributions include exploring identity portrayal in social media use among 10–11-year-olds and examining spatial agency in early childhood learning environments.

Dr. Pescott has organized academic events such as the USW Primary and Secondary Education Research Symposium (2019). Her work bridges theoretical insights with practitioner education, advocating for reflective practices in both early years and higher education settings.
