معرفی
Claire Edwards is Professor of Bone Oncology at the University of Oxford with a joint appointment in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) and the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. She holds a fellowship at St Edmund Hall college and leads the Edwards Group focused on Bone Oncology research.
Professor Edwards obtained her first class honours degree and Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield, where she began her career in cancer-induced bone disease. After postdoctoral studies at Sheffield and Oxford, she held assistant professor positions at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and Vanderbilt University before relocating her lab to Oxford in 2010.
Her research focuses on the pathogenesis of cancer-induced bone disease, particularly examining the contributions of the host bone marrow microenvironment and the role of obesity, adipocytes and adipokines in bone cancer progression. Her work spans multiple myeloma, prostate cancer bone metastasis, and the metabolic influences on tumor growth in skeletal environments.
Professor Edwards' publication record demonstrates consistent high-impact research in bone oncology, with recent work focusing on antibody-based therapies for multiple myeloma, metabolic profiling of prostate cancer in bone microenvironments, and the relationship between adipocytes and cancer progression. Her research shows a clear trajectory from basic mechanisms of bone-cancer interactions toward translational applications.
Scientific Awards:
- Iain T. Boyle Award from the European Calcified Tissue Society
Professor Edwards maintains active collaborations through affiliations with Blood Cancer UK and Rosetrees Trust. Her research group has attracted significant attention, with multiple publications being highlighted across social media platforms, news outlets, and academic networks like Mendeley.
