Dr. Claire Eccleston is a Senior Lecturer in Dementia Care at the Wicking Dementia Research Education Centre, University of Tasmania. She specializes in dementia education, health literacy, and the evaluation of educational interventions. Her research focuses on dementia risk reduction, scale development, and improving the capacity of healthcare professionals to support individuals with dementia. Dr. Eccleston holds a PhD in quantitative ecology from Griffith University and a BSc (1st Class Hons) from the University of Tasmania. She has led significant projects such as the ISLAND study and the TALK-TBI initiative, addressing dementia risk reduction and traumatic brain injury awareness.
Her academic roles include Course Coordinator for the Bachelor and Diploma of Dementia Care (2020–2023) and Deputy Course Coordinator (2017–2020). She currently supervises doctoral students investigating dementia education, health literacy responsiveness, and behavioral interventions.
