Claire Cockerill is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners at Edge Hill University's School of Social Work and Wellbeing. With over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience in mental health care, she has led practitioners, mentored students, and contributed to academic research on perinatal mental health. Previously, she held roles at the University of Central Lancashire, focusing on innovative teaching methods and course development.
Her education includes a BA (Hons) in Nursing from Brunel University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Central Lancashire. She also managed Pathways Northwest Ltd, implementing the recovery star model and scaling operations.
Research interests center on perinatal mental health needs of men and co-partners, exploring their impact on family wellbeing. Her work aligns with UN SDGs related to health, education, and social equality. Teaching focuses on practical application of mental health concepts, addressing social inequalities and therapeutic interventions.
