Claire Allen

Claire Allen is Senior Lecturer in English & Creative Writing at the University of Northampton's Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs including eighteenth-century to contemporary literature, critical theory, and writing studies.

Research explores:

• London fiction and urban narratives
• Postmodern and post-postmodern literary theory
• Gender and postcolonial frameworks
• Representations of class identity
• Contemporary dystopian fiction

Publications focus on metropolitan literature evolution beyond postmodern conventions, examining spatial narratives and identity politics. Current book project analyzes millennial London fiction through feminist and postcolonial lenses.

Leads the podcast Shelf Concerns discussing literature's societal relevance. Supervises doctoral research on female representation in dystopian fiction and mentors students through the STAR award-winning pastoral program.
