معرفی
Claes Ohlsson is Professor and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition at the Institute of Medicine, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. He combines academic leadership with clinical practice as a senior physician at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Education:
- M.D. (1990), University of Gothenburg
- Ph.D. in Physiology (1993), University of Gothenburg
- Postdoctoral work (1996-1997), NIH/NIDDK
Research Interests:
Dr. Ohlsson's translational research focuses on osteoporosis, integrating molecular mechanisms with clinical applications. His work spans hormonal regulation of bone growth, genetic determinants of fracture risk, and gut microbiota-bone axis. Notable contributions include discovering WNT16's role in cortical bone protection and establishing the field of osteomicrobiology.
Article Trends:
His recent publications highlight innovations in hip fracture prediction models, microbiome influences on bone health, and genetic-metabolic interactions. Studies integrate multi-omics approaches, large-scale epidemiology, and mechanistic animal models.
Scientific Awards:
- Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (2025)
- ERC Advanced Grant (2023)
- Wallenberg Clinical Scholar (2016, 2021)
- Novo Nordisk Foundation Distinguished Investigator Grant (2019)
- Anders Jahre's main prize (2018)
- Lawrence G. Raisz Award (2020)
Advising & Grants:
Dr. Ohlsson has secured major grants including the INGVAR program and Wallenberg Clinical Scholar funding. His research frequently involves international collaborations and randomized clinical trials.
