Claes Bäckman

Claes Bäckman is a Visiting Professor (W3) at the University of Mannheim and a Research Affiliate at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE. He previously held roles at Aarhus University and Lund University. His research focuses on mortgage market design, housing markets, and consumption-savings decisions, with notable contributions to understanding the impacts of amortization policies and interest-only mortgages. He has been recognized with the Lecturer of the Year award (Golden Pointer).

His work bridges macroeconomics and finance, exploring topics like household borrowing behavior, stock market participation, and regulatory frameworks.
