Clément Salah is a Research Fellow at Queen's College, University of Oxford, specializing in Islamic legal history and manuscript studies. His work bridges textual analysis with material culture, focusing on premodern North Africa's intellectual traditions.

His research examines early Muslim scholars' material practices through codicology and palaeography, particularly focusing on the Mālikī legal tradition in Kairouan. Current work includes analyzing manuscript dating techniques and digital humanities approaches to Arabic script recognition.
Recent publications highlight his focus on: Islamic legal doctrine formation, Arabic manuscript digitization, and computational analysis of Maghrebi scripts. He co-developed the RASAM 2 dataset for improving handwritten text recognition in North African Arabic scripts.
As a Junior Research Fellow in Manuscript and Text Cultures, he continues exploring how legal texts interacted with their historical contexts, particularly in Tunisia's premodern scholarly communities.
