Clément Gros serves as a Lecturer-researcher at University of Paris Cité under Section CNU 23 (Geography and Urban Planning), specializing in biogeography with a focus on urban ecosystems. His research bridges ecological and sociological perspectives to analyze human-nature interactions in metropolitan environments.
His primary research areas include:
- Urban and landscape ecology examining plant/butterfly community responses
- Evolution of city-dweller/nature relationships and policy impacts
- Green space management practices in anthropized environments
- Perception shifts regarding urban nature (2010-present)
Geographically focused on metropolitan France, Gros has conducted field studies in Paris, Strasbourg, Angers, and Rennes, with particular emphasis on urban grassy areas (lawns, meadows, wastelands) and expanded research into parks, sidewalks, and urban woodlands. His current postdoctoral work investigates how urban planning policies since 2010 have reshaped public perceptions of nature in Parisian green spaces, challenging assumptions about post-COVID demand for urban nature.
Research methodology integrates biogeographical analysis with environmental psychology to study the interplay between ecological continuities, differentiated management practices, and phytosanitary policy changes in transforming urban landscapes.
