Cisca Wijmenga

Cisca Wijmenga is a Full Professor of Human Genetics at the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), University of Groningen, since 2007. She served as Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen from September 2019 to 2023 and held an Adjunct Professorship in Medicine at the University of Oslo (2016-2019). Her research focuses on autoimmune diseases, celiac disease, and integrative genomics.

Research Interests: Dr. Wijmenga's work spans human genetics, genome-wide association studies, and microbiome research, with emphasis on biomarker discovery, non-coding RNA, and biobanking.
