Cindy Nover

Dr. Cindy Nover is a Professor and Director of Faculty Commons in the **School of Social Work** at Eastern Washington University (EWU). She transitioned to academia in 2013 after a career as a licensed clinical social worker in California and Washington, D.C., with experience in mental health, medical care, and residential care settings. She concurrently served as a clinical supervisor for LICSW and LMHC candidates in mental health, domestic violence, hospice, and disability care until 2024.

Her professional affiliations include board roles: Board President at End of Life Washington, Secretary of the Alternatives to Violence Project Spokane, and founder of Sagebrush Crossing (an end-of-life care initiative). She previously served on the boards of Center for Justice and Odyssey Youth Movement. Her research focuses on Death with Dignity, disability advocacy, and nonviolence in correctional and community settings.

Cindy teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in social work practice, diversity, and introductory topics. She is fluent in Spanish and English. Her career spans K-12 education, public radio, welfare advocacy, and a Peace Corps assignment in the Philippines (2003–2005).

Her leadership roles include a 3-year term as Director of Faculty Commons, supporting academic innovation at EWU.
