Cindy Darnell-Bowens

Dr. Cindy Darnell-Bowens is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center and serves as the Medical Director of the PICU at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. She completed her medical education at the University of Louisville Medical School and pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee at Memphis, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at UT Southwestern.

Dr. Bowens’ clinical research focuses on sedation management and quality improvement initiatives in pediatric critical care units. Her publications span clinical trials, organ donation ethics, and respiratory failure optimization, emphasizing evidence-based practices and ethical frameworks.

Recent publications highlight trends in sedation protocols, extubation readiness, and coagulation complications in ECMO patients. Her work also addresses health disparities in clinical trial consent and innovations in tracheostomy care.
