معرفی
Ciaran Shaughnessy is an Assistant Professor of Integrative Biology at Oklahoma State University (OSU), specializing in physiological mechanisms, endocrine signaling, and environmental adaptation across vertebrates. His work integrates molecular to organismal levels, focusing on osmoregulation, stress physiology, and evolutionary biology. He holds a PhD in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2020), with postdoctoral training at the University of Denver (NSF Fellowship) and National Jewish Health (NIH Fellowship).
Teaching: He teaches BIOL 3204 Physiology and supervises undergraduate and graduate research. Current students include Susanne Hahs, Madison Merideth, and Ava Cannizzaro. His lab studies organisms like sea lampreys, sturgeon, and teleosts, emphasizing evolutionary physiology and environmental adaptation. He directs the Shaughnessy Lab, which explores the HPI axis, ionocytes, and corticosteroid functions.
Awards: NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biology (2021–2024), NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship (2020–2021).
Research: Over 35 peer-reviewed articles, including studies on CFTR-independent ion transport in lampreys and evolutionary trends in melanocortin receptors. Collaborates globally, with projects funded by the NSF and NHLBI. Active in conference presentations and mentoring roles.
