Ciara Keating is an Affiliate Researcher at the University of Glasgow's School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine, specializing in environmental microbiology and biotechnology. She holds a BSc from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and a PhD focused on anaerobic digestion applications. Her research investigates microbial communities in waste remediation, bioenergy production, and agricultural systems.
Current research examines potato blackleg disease through a BBSRC/NERC/DEFRA-funded project analyzing interactions between pathogens, soil microbiomes, and farming practices. Previously, she developed the AnaeroGrow platform for real-time analysis of anaerobic microorganisms. International collaborations include work with the Asian Institute of Technology on decentralized waste treatment systems.
