Dr Gorman’s research centers on French crime fiction, gender, and feminist theory, with a focus on representations of female criminals and empowerment in contemporary literature and film. She explores intersections between law and literature, motherhood, and popular culture, particularly in Francophone contexts. Her work critically engages with feminist ethics, patriarchal structures, and subversive narratives in media.
Her recent publications analyze gendered violence in French crime fiction and teenage pregnancy as both empowerment and entrapment in French cinema. The articles demonstrate a strong thematic focus on feminist discourse, female agency, and the critique of institutional norms in literature and film.
