Chun Wu

Chun Wu, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Rowan University, within the College of Science & Mathematics. He holds a BS and MS in Chemistry from Xiamen University, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Delaware, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Delaware. His research focuses on computer-aided drug design, molecular dynamics simulation, and molecular modeling, with a long-term goal of understanding biomolecular structures and functions to enable rational drug design. Specific projects include developing cancer drugs targeting DNA/RNA quadruplexes, analgesics for GPCRs, antiviral agents against herpes virus, and diabetes treatments targeting inflammation pathways.

Dr. Wu’s honors include a 2010 Travel Award from the IBBI conference in Berlin, a Dean’s List recognition at the University of Delaware (2004), and an Excellent Thesis Award from Xiamen University (1999). He is a member of the American Chemical Society. His research employs advanced computational methods to analyze drug-receptor interactions and simulate molecular dynamics, with recent work focusing on SARS-CoV-2 mechanisms, antibiotic resistance, and G-quadruplex stabilization.

Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches in virology, oncology, and drug design, often combining experimental and computational methods to address complex biological problems. His lab explores both fundamental mechanisms and translational applications in medicine and biotechnology.
