معرفی
Dr. Chun Guo is a Lecturer in the School of Biosciences at the University of Sheffield, with a career spanning over two decades in academia and research. He holds a PhD from De Montfort University (2002) and an MBBS from Soochow University (1991). His research focuses on protein SUMOylation and deSUMOylation in health and disease, particularly in ischemia and age-related conditions like neurodegeneration and cancer. He employs molecular biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology to study mitochondrial dynamics and stress responses.
Education History:
- MBBS, Medical College of Soochow University (1986–1991)
- PhD in Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University (1999–2002)
Research Interests: His work examines SUMOylation's role in mitochondrial fission/fusion, autophagy, and cellular survival under stress. Key topics include SENP3-mediated deSUMOylation pathways and their implications for ischemic injury and neurodegenerative diseases.
Publications Trends: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2001, with recent focus on mitochondrial dynamics, SUMOylation in stress responses, and neuroprotective mechanisms. Collaborations span institutions globally, addressing translational applications in disease treatment.
Scientific Awards: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2018).
Teaching & Advising: Supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students in Molecular Biology, Neuroanatomy, and Cell Biology. Oversees PhD projects on autophagy regulation and cancer chemoprevention. Active in grant reviews for BBSRC, British Heart Foundation, and others.
Research Group: Leads projects on SUMOylation pathways, mitochondrial biology, and translational medicine within Sheffield's Biosciences School. Collaborates with the University of Bristol, Manchester, and international partners.
