Chrystopher Nehaniv is a Visiting Professor in Mathematical & Evolutionary Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire, affiliated with the School of Physics, Engineering & Computer Science and the Department of Computer Science. He leads the Biocomputation Research Group and is associated with the Centre for AI and Robotics Research.
His research focuses on:
- Human-robot interaction and perception of humanoid robots
- Computational neuroscience including EEG microstate analysis
- Evolutionary computation and automata theory
- Continual learning systems for robotics
- Information-theoretic approaches to biocomputation
Recent publications demonstrate strong interdisciplinary focus bridging neuroscience and robotics, with EEG microstate research exploring methodological advances, meta-analysis standardization, and clinical reliability, while robotics work investigates continual learning paradigms in human-robot interaction scenarios.
He has led multiple research projects including:
- Novel Computational Methods for Predicting Transitions in Spatiotemporal Neurodynamics
- Decoding EEG microstates in expert meditators
- INTERLACE: Interacting Decentralized Ledger Architecture
- Perception of humanoid robots
- Social sensorimotor contingencies (socSMCs)
