معرفی
Chrystalla Antoniou is an Assistant Professor in Plant Molecular Biology at the Department of Life Sciences, European University of Cyprus. She holds a PhD from Cyprus University of Technology (2018) focusing on the beneficial effects of kresoxim-methyl in plants. Her research emphasizes abiotic stress tolerance mechanisms, plant metabolomics, and the application of biostimulants. She has held academic roles including Teaching Fellow and Special Scientist at multiple institutions since 2018.
Her educational background includes a BSc (2011) and MSc (2013) in Agricultural Science, Biotechnology, and Food Science from Cyprus University of Technology. Key research projects include metabolomic analysis of carob, development of nanopriming strategies for stress mitigation, and investigation of chemical priming agents.
Research interests span plant stress responses, phytochemical analysis, and environmental adaptation. Recent articles highlight work on drought effects in grapes, salt tolerance in bitter melon, and carob metabolite profiling. Awards include the 2019 Young Researcher Award in Life Sciences and scholarships from the Onassis Foundation and Cyprus University of Technology.
Grants and projects include leading roles in initiatives like the PHENOTYPOS platform for plant phenotyping and the Black Gold project on carob industry applications. She collaborates with international institutions such as VIB and the University of Ghent.
Her lab focuses on systems biology approaches to plant stress, integrating metabolomics and transcriptomics. Current efforts address sustainable agricultural practices through innovative priming technologies and environmental metabolite analysis.
