Chryssi Giannitsarou

Professor Chryssi Giannitsarou is a Faculty Member in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge, holding the title of Professor of Macroeconomics and Finance. She is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a member of the Centre for Macroeconomics (CFM).

• Education: PhD in Economics from the London Business School (2002)

Her research focuses on macroeconomic theory, macro-finance, expectations, and networks. Selected recent work explores pandemic dynamics (Waning Immunity and the Second Wave: Some Projections for SARS-CoV-2), social interactions (Informative Social Interactions), and the impact of the #MeToo movement on academic collaboration (Economics Coauthorships in the Aftermath of MeToo). She has also developed datasets for stance detection in social media and news analysis.

Her methodological approach combines data handling, computation methods, and network modeling across economics and finance. Recent articles highlight her interdisciplinary work at the intersection of public health, gender studies, and computational linguistics.

She supervises PhD students in macro-finance, firm dynamics, and monetary policy. Her work has been supported by grants from the ESRC (2005-2008) and the British Academy (2017-2020), including research on global stock market correlations.
