Chrysoula Thodi

Chrysoula Thodi is a Professor of Audiology at the Department of Health Sciences, European University Cyprus. She holds affiliations with the Center for Preventive Paediatrics Audiology as a Consultant and Cyprus Audiology Center as a Senior Audiologist. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Audiology from Kent State University (1998), an MSc in Audiology from Cleveland State University (1991), and a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (1987). She also holds a Diplome d’Etudes Superieures in French Literature from Sorbonne (1987).

Her research focuses on sensory impairments in aging populations, hearing screening protocols, and interdisciplinary approaches to dementia care. Notable projects include the EU-funded SENSE-Cog initiative addressing sensory interventions for dementia patients and the Cyprus Preschool Hearing Screening Program. She has coordinated major grants such as the EEA/Norway Grants-funded Unit for Early Hearing Diagnosis and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation projects on newborn hearing screening and auditory aging.

Prof. Thodi has published extensively on topics like concurrent sensory and cognitive impairments in older adults, industrial health risks, and pediatric screening programs. Her work integrates clinical practice with public health policy, emphasizing early detection and multidisciplinary care. Awards include Teacher of the Year (South Carolina State University, 2002) and the Kent State University Doctoral Fellowship (1994).
