Chrysanthos S. Chrysanthou is an Assistant Professor of Ancient Greek at the University of Cyprus. He specializes in Ancient Greek Literature, with a focus on Narratology, Literary Theory, Cognitive Studies, and Group Minds. His research explores intersections between classical texts and cognitive approaches to narrative.
He studied Classics at the University of Athens (2007–2011), graduating as Class Valedictorian with a final average mark of 9.67/10. He earned his postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford in 2012 with Distinction and completed his PhD there in 2016, graduating with no corrections required.
Chrysanthou is the author of three monographs and numerous articles on ancient Greek historiography, biography, narratology, and cognitive classics. His research has been supported by significant funding, including a 2023 European Research Council Starting Grant worth €1.49 million for the project Group Minds in Ancient Narrative. He also served as Principal Investigator for the DFG-funded project Social Minds in the Ancient Greek Novel and Imperial Greek Historiography (2019–2022) and founded the international research network Fictional and Factual Narratives in Antiquity under the University of Heidelberg's Excellence Strategy.
