Prof. Christos Hadjiemmanuil is a Visiting Professor at LSE Law School and a Professor of International and European Monetary and Financial Institutions at the University of Piraeus. He holds expertise in European and international financial law and regulation, with a focus on banking supervision, monetary union frameworks, and crisis management. Born in 1964, he earned degrees from Athens University (LLB) and University College London (LL.M., Ph.D.).
His academic career includes roles at Queen Mary University of London and LSE, where he progressed from Lecturer to Reader in Law. He has advised the IMF on bank insolvency and serves on the UNDP’s Regional Advisory Board for Eastern Europe. His consultancy and leadership roles include CEO positions at Hellenic Olympic Properties and OPAP S.A., and Chairmanship of the Athens-based Center for Political Research.
Research interests span banking regulation, financial stability, and legal frameworks for bank resolution. His publications include works on European Economic and Monetary Union, banking law, and crisis management. He actively contributes to international legal committees like MOCOMILA.
