Christopher Wickert

Prof. Christopher Wickert is a Full Professor and Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility at VU Amsterdam, serving as Director of the VU Business & Society Knowledge Hub and Research Director of the Department of Management & Organization. He holds a PhD in Management from the University of Lausanne (2013) and an MSc in Business Administration from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management (2008).

His research focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR), corporate sustainability, and business-society dynamics, emphasizing CSR implementation patterns in global firms, CSR standards diffusion, and organizational identity influences. Key areas include the CSR 'talk-walk' gap, CSR professional challenges, and Critical Management Studies.

Wickert has published in top journals like Journal of Management Studies, Business & Society, and Harvard Business Review. He authored a 2019 Cambridge book on CSR strategy and currently serves as General Editor of Journal of Management Studies.

He leads projects funded by NWO-WOTRO, collaborating with Makerere University on Ugandan agri-sector CSR and higher education reforms. His work aligns with UN SDGs on poverty, climate action, and sustainable development.
