Christopher Walsh is the Bullard Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Genetics and Genomics at Boston Children's Hospital. His lab studies genetic disorders of human cerebral cortical development, somatic mutations in neurological diseases, and brain evolution. Research combines single-cell genomics with investigations of neuronal migration disorders.
Key projects include NIH-funded work on epilepsy genetics, somatic mutation mechanisms in aging/Alzheimer's, and Allen Frontiers Group-supported human brain evolution studies. His team develops methods for detecting non-coding somatic variants across tissues.
Awards include the Kavli Prize (2022), Gruber Prize (2021), and memberships in the National Academy of Sciences and American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Recent publications focus on cortical specification and somatic mosaicism.
