Christopher Vaneman is the Dean of the School of the Arts and Associate Professor of Flute at Converse University, affiliated with the Petrie School of Music. He holds degrees from Yale University and the Eastman School of Music and has studied internationally in Salzburg and Brussels.

His research and performance interests include flute performance, contemporary and Baroque techniques, chamber music, and musicology. He has studied with renowned flutists such as Ransom Wilson, Bonita Boyd, Jean-Michel Tanguy, Andras Adorjan, Robert Dick, and Barthold Kuijken.
His publications and presentations focus on program notes and musical commentary, including work used by the Tokyo Quartet for their Beethoven cycle at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. His recent activities reflect a strong engagement with international performance and academic discourse in music.

Christopher Vaneman is actively involved in student mentorship and summer music education, having taught at Pennsylvania’s Performing Arts Institute. He performs internationally and contributes to academic conferences through speaking engagements. He is a member of Ensemble Radieuse and the New York-based Echo trio.
