Christopher Tudge is a Professor in the Department of Biology at American University with extensive international recognition in crustacean research. His institutional affiliations include a past Research Associate position at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History and active editorial leadership as Editor-in-Chief of Nauplius journal.
His research spans crustacean ecology, evolution, reproduction, and taxonomy, with additional interests in marine zoology and bird biology. Current projects focus on:
- Crustacean reproductive biology with Brazilian collaborators
- Crustacean taxonomy in Iranian Gulf waters (including new mud shrimp species descriptions)
- Crustacean morphology and ultrastructure research at American University
Professor Tudge has published over 70 international journal papers and presented at 50+ conferences. He holds leadership roles in The Crustacean Society (past President) and collaborates globally across Australia, Japan, France, Argentina, Italy, Brazil, and Iran. A hermit crab species bears his name following his discovery in Belize.
His work intersects with broader initiatives in:
