Christopher Townley is a Professor of Law at King’s College London, where he has been affiliated since 2007. His roles include teaching undergraduate EU Competition Law and postgraduate courses on the Law and Politics of Economic Regulation. Prior to academia, he worked as a solicitor at Clifford Chance LLP and served as Principal Case Officer at the Office of Fair Trading (now the Competition and Markets Authority, CMA). He advises and teaches for institutions such as the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (Columbia), Egyptian Competition Authority, and Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.

Advising & Grants: As Principal Investigator, he led projects like BAARA (2011–2015), and studies on EU competition policy and competition law goals. His work explores how national and non-state actors shape competition networks. Collaborations span institutions globally, reflecting his engagement with regulatory bodies in multiple countries.
Labs/Teams: Engages with international regulatory agencies, including the CMA, Ofcom, and commissions in Egypt, Thailand, and Pakistan.
