Christopher Strelluf is an Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick. His research focuses on sociolinguistics, particularly historical sociophonetics, dialect variation, and language perception. He employs variationist approaches to study sound change and regional dialects, often using archival data and social media analysis. A key aspect of his work involves public engagement through media appearances, webinars, and collaborations with organizations like Cockney Cultures to combat language prejudice. He is a Fellow of the Warwick Institute of Engagement and the EUTOPIA Young Leaders Academy, and a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. Currently serving as Director of Undergraduate Studies, he restricts PhD supervision to projects closely aligned with his published research. His interdisciplinary projects include the Routledge Handbook of Sociophonetics and collaborations across the EUTOPIA Alliance to enhance public engagement in linguistics.
